Welcome Chris Comerford to our parish. He was born and raised in Decatur Illinois, the oldest son of Jim and Mary Comerford. He has two younger brothers, David his wife Janel and their daughter Caden, who live in Springfield.
Patrick who is engaged to Angie DeVous they live in South St. Louis County. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes parish and St. Teresa High School. Fr. Chris attended the University of St. Francis in Joliet Illinois as a Broadcast Communications major, seeking to become a sports broadcaster. He felt the call to the priesthood and changed his major to Theology and philosophy, planning to enter the Seminary after graduation. He attended Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Springfield on May 25, 1996.
Fr. Chris served as a parochial vicar at Blessed Sacrament in Springfield, Our Saviour in Jacksonville, and SS Peter and Paul in Collinsville. He first served as Pastor of St. Louis in Nokomis, St. Barbara in Witt and St. Maurice in Morrisonville. He recently served as pastor of St. Elizabeth in Granite City from 2009-2017.
Fr. Chris is involved with Catholic Athletes for Christ as the Catholic Co-Chaplain of the St. Louis Cardinals organization, he will continue as much as he can. He is a big Cardinals and St. Louis Blues fan and he has a large memorabilia collection. Fr. Chris likes to play golf, go to movies and read when he has time.
