Sacraments

Sacraments: Encounters with God's Grace

The Catechism of the Catholic Church summarizes the Church’s understanding of the sacraments:

Sacraments are “efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us. The visible rites by which the sacraments are celebrated signify and make present the graces proper to each sacrament. They bear fruit in those who receive them with the required dispositions.” (CCC 1131)

The Sacraments are sacred signs of God's love, instituted by Christ to give us grace and strengthen our journey of faith. They mark the most profound moments of our spiritual lives—welcoming us into the Church, nourishing our souls, and deepening our relationship with Christ. At Blessed Sacrament Church, we joyfully celebrate the seven Sacraments, each a unique encounter with God's divine presence:

Baptism
The gateway to the Christian life, Baptism washes away original sin and welcomes us as children of God.

Reconciliation (Confession)
God’s mercy knows no bounds. Through Confession, we receive forgiveness, healing, and a renewed heart.

Confirmation
Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, Confirmation strengthens our faith and calls us to live boldly as disciples of Christ.

Eucharist
The source and summit of our faith, the Holy Eucharist unites us with Christ as we receive His true Body and Blood.

Holy Matrimony
A sacred covenant of love, where a man and a woman commit to a lifelong journey of faith, unity, and self-giving.

Anointing of the Sick
A Sacrament of healing and comfort, bringing strength and grace to those suffering in body, mind, or spirit.

Holy Orders
Through this Sacrament, men are called to serve God’s people as deacons, priests, and bishops, dedicating their lives to His mission.
